Fell to her knees and burst into tears. Athlete forced to fight cheater at Olympics

The IOC’s decision is striking in its cynicism and idiocy.
The organizers of the 2024 Olympics continue to conduct experiments on people. First, the French placed all the athletes in the Olympic Village, where the living conditions are simply unbearable. There, the athletes suffer from the heat, because there are no air conditioners in the rooms (a fundamental position of the organizing committee of the Games), and they also eat poorly. It is not surprising that many participants in the Olympic Games immediately moved to normal hotels.
In addition, the organizers forced the triathletes to dive into the dirty Seine, which many athletes did not like, complaining about the strong smell and muddy water in the river. It seemed that this would be the end of the French bullying of the Olympians, at least due to the lack of new ideas. However, Paris continues to surprise with ingenuity. For example, at the Olympic boxing tournament, the organizers allowed an athlete who failed the gender test to beat up girls!
It would probably be better to give her the gold right away so that everyone stays healthy.
She hit him so hard that his helmet came off.
Literally the entire world was surprised when the organizers of the 2024 Olympics announced that 25-year-old Iman Khelif from Algeria would compete for Olympic medals. The fact is that Khelif was disqualified at the 2023 World Championships “for not meeting the selection criteria.” This vague wording became clear when it turned out that the athlete had too high a testosterone level.
Khelif then even sued the International Boxing Association (IBA), but an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport brought nothing to the boxer from Algeria. It seemed that the story with the strange athlete could end there, but suddenly the girl’s name pops up at the 2024 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC), which is holding the boxing tournament in Paris, used its tests and allowed Iman to compete.
Many people immediately became outraged by the participation of the masculine Khelif, who has an advantage in strength compared to the other girls, in the Olympic tournament. They were especially outraged in the homeland of the Italian Angela Carini, who was to have her first fight at the 2024 Olympics against an athlete from Algeria.
Even the Italian Minister of Family Affairs, Eugenia Roccella, spoke out.
“It is surprising that there are no specific, strict, uniform criteria at the international level. There may be suspicions of an unfair and potentially dangerous fight for one of the Olympic participants. Although the event itself symbolizes sporting justice,” Roccella said.
In Algeria, they began to defend their athlete. In Khelif’s homeland, foreign media outlets accused her of unfair play against the boxer. Some journalists claimed that Iman was a man and had changed her gender. But the Algerian Olympic Committee referred to the IOC, which confirmed that Khelif is a woman according to her passport.
“We strongly condemn the unethical harassment of our esteemed athlete Imane Khelif through the unfounded propaganda of some foreign media. Such attacks on her person and dignity are deeply unfair, especially now that she is preparing for the pinnacle of her career at the Olympic Games. The Executive Committee has taken all necessary measures to protect our champion,” the Algerian Olympic Committee said in a statement.
In the end, Khelif entered the ring against Karini, and the fight lasted only 46 seconds! The Algerian athlete delivered a crushing blow, landing right on her opponent’s jaw, even the Italian’s helmet came undone. Staggering a little, Angela headed to her corner and told her coach that “it hurt like hell.”
Seeing Carini’s condition, her cornerman informed the referee that the Italian athlete would not continue the fight. The referee then called the opponents to the center of the ring and took them by the hands to announce the winner. But Angela did not wait for the official end of the fight and fell to her knees, sobbing from helplessness.
Later, the athlete spoke to journalists and shared her emotions.
“I went into the ring and said, ‘I’m going to give it everything I have, no matter who I’m up against, who I don’t care about at the moment.’ I didn’t lose tonight, I just did my job as a fighter. I went into the ring and fought. It didn’t work out, but I’m leaving the ring with my head held high and my heart broken,” Carini said in the mixed zone.
And it’s not that Khelif beat a too weak opponent. In 2019, Karini won silver at the European Championships and the pre-Olympic World Championships. The Algerian athlete simply had too much of an advantage in strength.
Khelif’s next victim at the Olympic tournament is Anna Luca Hamori, who represents Hungary. We can only wish Hamori good health.

Let’s bow our heads. 21-year-old boxer died on New Year’s Eve
Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians commemorate the people who lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine war. Today Sport.ua recalls that 21-year-old Thai boxing master Vladislav Vakulenko, a very positive person, had great potential in the ring, but with the beginning of a full-scale invasion he decided to defend Ukraine. The fighter died exactly three years ago, on December 30, 2022, while conducting a combat mission near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
Vladislav was born in Kiev and has been involved with sports since his childhood. Just six months before his tragic death, he received a diploma from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine and dreamed of major competitions, medals and training future champions. In parallel with his studies, Vladislav trained in Muay Thai. The man hoped to return to training in the gym after the war.
Vladislav Vakulenko took up arms immediately after the Muscovites’ large-scale occupation of his territory. “We live with war! I understand that we live in a historical time when there are real brave comrades nearby, whose soul and body are eager for war… This is a time when you will remain a hero or die a hero,” he wrote on social networks.
His friends and coach remember Vlad as a man of light. He always smiled, joked, supported others, was a master of inspiration, did not make excuses, did not back down from difficulties. The friend wrote: “You’ve done more at this age than some have done in 50 or 60 years.” And Vlad’s mentor, Stanislav Voiten, recalls: “He did his best in training, gave his life in the fight against the invader. I am proud to have known him.”
