Cameroon native secures refugee team’s first ever Olympic medal

Cameroonian Cindy Ngamba secured the first ever Olympic medal for a refugee team.
On Sunday, Ngamba defeated France’s Michelle Davina in the quarterfinals of the women’s 75kg boxing tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ngamba thus secured at least bronze. In the semifinals, she will face Panama’s Atheina Bilon.
The refugee team is competing at the Summer Olympics for the third time. The team for the 2024 Games includes 37 athletes.
The Olympics in the capital of France will end on August 11.
