The President of the Dagestan Wrestling Federation, Omar Murtuzaliev, awarded cash prizes to natives of the republic who became winners and medalists of the 2024 Olympic Games in wrestling, as well as their coaches, the organization’s press service reported.

As noted, the Olympic champions received 5 million rubles each, the bronze medalists – 2 million each. 1 million rubles “as a consolation prize” was paid to Russian wrestlers who won the Russian qualifying championship but did not take part in the Olympics.

Gold at the Games in the capital of France was won by natives of Dagestan Akhmed Tazhudinov (competing for Bahrain), Razambek Zhamalov (Uzbekistan), Magomed Ramazanov (Bulgaria), bronze medals were won by Magomedkhan Magomedov (Azerbaijan) and Dauren Kurugliev (Greece).

In July, the Russian Wrestling Federation announced that Russian athletes would not compete in the Paris Olympics. The FSBR called the selection principle for the Games unsportsmanlike.
