Russian President Vladimir Putin told what judo and sambo taught him in life.
A participant in the open lesson “Talk about important things” at Kyzyl school No. 20 told Putin about his love for judo and sambo. “We have something in common,” the president said with a smile in response.
— Judo and sambo are very good sports. They are close, but there is a difference in the rules, which means in movements, throws, painful holds. But there is a very good rule in judo – flexibility in everything.
Team sports are also very good. Nice and interesting to watch. Basketball, football, and other team sports are team sports. There is also responsibility for the team in judo, but when you go out onto the mat, onto the tatami, it’s just you and your opponent, and everything depends on you personally. This is very important for the development of male character,” Putin noted.
Putin has been involved in martial arts since childhood; the head of state is a master of sports in judo and sambo. He has a black belt in karate.
