MMA fighter Rasul Mirzaev about his new opponent: “He’s young, there’s a 20-year difference between us”

Russian MMA fighter Rasul Mirzaev, in a conversation with Match TV, spoke about his new opponent, 20-year-old Nabi Nabiev, whose fight will take place on October 31 according to the changed kickboxing rules.

39-year-old Mirzaev held his last fight according to MMA rules, defeating Umar Magomedov ahead of schedule in the second round. 20-year-old Nabi Nabiev is undefeated in four fights according to MMA rules and will meet Mirzaev in the AMC SUF league according to adapted kickboxing rules (fighting in a standing position, with small gloves).

— Nabi Nabiev became a participant in a mass brawl in one of the Russian leagues. What do you associate it with?

— Associated with Nabi Nabiyev. He is a young, promising guy… hot. I will be pleased to work with him. Moreover, he has not yet encountered people like me. Even my blood pressure will be new to him. He is young, he is 20 years old, I am already 39. Consider that there is a 20 year difference between us, it turns out. He still has a lot to learn. In fact, I was pleased that they offered such a fight, because I know my data and what else I can show with my legs. I’m very serious about this.

—Who will you prepare with?

— Probably with coach Arseniy Babyak. At the same time, I think it will be possible to go to other gyms in Moscow: Global Fight Gym and Evolve Gym. Lots of rooms, actually. But mostly I train myself.

– How much do you weigh now?

— I keep myself in shape, I think I’m 75–76 kg.

— You are 39 years old, how long are you ready to fight?

“I feel young, I haven’t burned my gunpowder yet.” I have a principle: “movement is life,” while we move, we live. No matter what stories we find ourselves in, the main thing is to move,” Mirzaev told Match TV.
