The previously announced high-profile fight with the participation of Vyacheslav Datsik and Alexander Emelianenko will most likely not take place, as recently announced by the General Director of Ural FC Radmir Gabdullin. The reason is that contact with one of the fighters (who exactly is not specified) was lost. It is worth noting that Phoenix reminded of itself in early September by once again entering a rehabilitation center.

However, this does not mean at all that we will never see him in the octagon or in the ring, another question is – how? Even in those days when Emelianenko called his form excellent, he could not last two minutes in battle.

“Hands fly wonderfully”

Russian fighter Alexander Emelianenko, after a series of scandals, announced his retirement at the end of 2012, but after a visit to Mount Athos and communication with the elders, he unexpectedly decided to return to mixed martial arts. There was no way to count on a contract at M-1; the heavyweight’s relationship with the organization’s leadership was far from ideal. But in the secondary promotions, the Last Emperor’s brother was in demand. In 2013, he won two early victories, and in January 2014, at a tournament in St. Petersburg, he intended to deal with the undefeated student of Alexei Oleynik, Dmitry Sosnovsky, known by the nickname Evil Machine.

– I’m in great shape. Had a good workout today. Acquaintances, friends were present, a coach who will second me tomorrow. So, we shook ourselves a little, but my hands are flying wonderfully,” Emelianenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti Sport.

Emelianenko’s “excellent form” actually raised questions when he appeared in front of the public. Since the start of preparations for the fight, Alexander managed to gain several kilograms, which is very uncharacteristic for mixed martial arts. Moreover, we were not talking about additional muscle volumes, but, at best, about additional protection of the body with a fat layer. Evil tongues even claimed that Alexander went on a long drinking binge some time before the fight. The opponent looked much more fit and athletic, although the brother of the Last Emperor accused Dmitry of being addicted to chemistry.

— I looked at his fights. I didn’t see anything special about him. I want to say that he rocked. I think it’s the chemistry that retains water. Well, he simply won’t be able to fight for a long time,” Emelianenko said before the fight.

Discouraged Emelianenko

Sosnovsky still had enough for 100 seconds, but he didn’t need more. Dmitry immediately attacked Emelianenko, trying to take his opponent by surprise. Alexander’s reaction was far from ideal; he could not prevent the translation. One could, of course, blame the Evil Machine for meanness – instead of the expected greeting, he attacked the enemy. But Emelianenko had been to Japan several times and should have known that a real samurai is always ready to attack.

Alexander was not ready, and he did not defend himself very successfully on the ground, missing several blows. But luck suddenly turned to the experienced fighter. The referee stopped the fight due to a cut on Sosnowski’s head. It was not worth expecting that the opponent would probably be removed, but still Emelianenko had time to catch his breath and come to his senses. It was true that we had to return to battle from a prone position, but there were chances to correct the situation.

Alexander really snapped, but then made the mistake of giving his back, which tempted his opponent to switch to a choke. The student Boa constrictor could not immediately strangle his opponent, and therefore did not waste his energy in vain, deciding to finish the opponent with blows. After several missed attacks to the back and head, Emelianenko stopped defending himself and forced the judge to stop the fight. The bloodied fighter looked discouraged; he clearly did not imagine the plot of the battle this way.

It cannot be said that the result of the confrontation had any fundamental impact on the biographies of the fighters. Over the past 10 years, Emelianenko entered the Octagon many times: he won, lost without a chance, went on a binge and returned again. Even the imprisonment did not fundamentally affect his career; Phoenix still formally remains an active fighter. But Sosnovsky, having reached the UFC and won there, got into a criminal history and ended up in jail for a long time.
