“McGregor has nothing to do with top fighters” – Taktarov

UFC-6 champion Oleg Taktarov believes that Irishman Conor McGregor should not count on fights with the organization’s top fighters.
At the end of June, 36-year-old McGregor was supposed to return to the Octagon after three years, but his fight with American Michael Chandler was canceled due to the Irishman’s injury. After this, White said that the Irishman would not fight in 2024.
— McGregor has nothing to do with top fighters. Conor should now just bring money to the UFC and be a kind of Tony Ferguson. Or, for example, in the category below there is Max Holloway, who will be thrown into the furnace of Ilia Topuria, who will smash him to smithereens. But this fight will bring spectators, because they know Holloway, he won’t just give up the fight to anyone, but physically he can’t.
McGregor will still appear periodically, but what’s the interest in that? He goes into the Mike Tyson category, these are semi-exhibition fights. Rivals are already being selected there to show something with them. But the fact that Conor is no longer as disciplined as he used to be is a fact. It is important for Conor not to lose his legacy while there is still money to be made from it,” Soviet Sport quotes Taktarov as saying.
