Former absolute world light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr. told Match TV that the fight between Russians Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev should have been recorded as a draw, and the boxers should have a return match.
On Saturday in Riyadh, Beterbiev defeated Bivol by decision and won the title of absolute light heavyweight champion. The score of the judges’ notes is 116:112, 115:113, 114:114. Bivol suffered the first defeat in his career, and Beterbiev brought the fight to a decision by the judges for the first time. Now he has 21 victories, 20 of which are early.
“It was a very meaningful battle of great masters. Each round could be given to one or the other. And the battle could have turned in any direction. I think there should have been a draw, and I also think there should be a rematch,” Roy Jones told Match TV.
