“I heard opinions that Dmitry was robbed a little. “Everything looks different on TV” – Mineev about the fight between Bivol and Beteribev
Russian MMA fighter Vladimir Mineev told Match TV that boxer Artur Beterbiev was worthy of victory following the results of the fight with Dmitry Bivol, while the fight itself was quite equal.
The fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion took place on October 12 in Riyadh; 39-year-old Beterbiev won by majority decision. The manager of former WBA and IBO light heavyweight champion Bivol, Vadim Kornilov, said that the Russian boxer’s team has submitted a request for a rematch with Beterbiev. Information about filing a request for a rematch was confirmed by lawyer Patrick English, who represents the interests of Bivol.
— What is your opinion about the Beterbiev-Bivol fight?
– Both are worthy boxers, Arthur deserves to win. I heard opinions that Dmitry was robbed a little. You know, everything looks different on TV, but the judges were in the room, they made this decision. There is a process for challenging the decision, which probably could have been used if there had been blatant theft.
I think the fight was equal. If they had given a draw, it would have been an ideal solution, but, most likely, the regulations did not allow this,” Mineev told Match TV.
Beterbiev won 21 victories (20 by knockout) in the professional ring, Bivol had 23 victories and one defeat.
