Kremlin: “Russian boxers are the only domestic athletes who regularly compete at international tournaments without restrictions”
The head of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Umar Kremlev, said that boxers are the only Russian athletes who regularly compete in international tournaments.
On Thursday, the forum “Russia is a Sports Power” started in Ufa, within the framework of which the Council under the President of the Russian Federation on Physical Culture and Sports was held.
— Russian boxers today, in fact, are the only domestic athletes who regularly compete at international competitions. And they do this without any restrictions. Russian boxers proudly raise their flag at every sporting event and hear the anthem of our country. It is necessary for other sports federations to work more actively in the international arena, so that not only boxers have the opportunity to defend the colors of our flag at international competitions. Literally at these moments, our Russian boxer here in Ufa is competing with an athlete from Germany. We hold international tournaments both in Russia and abroad, even in these difficult times. I propose setting other federations the task of actively working in this direction,” the Match TV correspondent reports the Kremlev’s words.
