“In a rematch, Malykhin will draw conclusions and return the championship belt” – Kopylov
Russian UFC middleweight Roman Kopylov, who is also Anatoly Malykhin’s teammate on the “Rat” team, commented on the fighter’s first defeat in his career.
On Saturday, 36-year-old Malykhin lost to Senegalese Oumar Kane by split decision and was unable to defend the ONE heavyweight championship belt. The fight took place in Bangkok as part of the ONE 169 tournament. For Malykhin, this is the first defeat in 15 MMA fights.
— I was 100% confident that Tolya would win, but Kane was perfectly prepared: he worked in two stances, took the blow well and did not let him fight. Anatoly was more active, pressed, hit more, controlled, but the outcome of the fight was decided by a yellow card, a cut and a knockdown in the fifth round. I think that this is not Tolya’s best form, and in the rematch Malykhin will draw conclusions and return his belt,” the Championship quoted Kopylov as saying.
