Russian sambo wrestlers won four gold medals on the final day of the World Championships in Astana
Russian sambo wrestlers won six medals of various denominations on the final competitive day of the World Championships, which takes place in Astana (Kazakhstan).
In sports sambo, Daria Rechkalova (up to 80 kg) and Anton Konovalov (up to 98 kg) won gold; in combat sambo, Sofya Istomina (up to 65 kg) and Mikhail Kashurnikov (over 98 kg) won gold medals.
Bronze medalists were Mukhtar Gamzaev (combat sambo, up to 58 kg) and Tatyana Shuyanova (sports sambo, up to 59 kg).
In just three competitive days of the World Championship, Russian athletes won 13 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals. Also the winners of the tournament were Russians Andrey Demidov (up to 64 kg), Viktor Rudenko (up to 79 kg) and Pavel Selivanov (up to 98), who performed in the category for people with visual impairments.
Russian athletes competed at the tournament in a neutral status.
