The absolute world light heavyweight boxing champion, Russian Artur Beterbiev, said that he could not imagine a fight with boxing legend Mohammed Ali even in his fantasies.

On the night of October 13 in Riyadh, Beterbiev defeated compatriot Dmitry Bivol by decision (114–114, 115–113, 116–112), becoming the absolute world light heavyweight champion. Now he owns the WBA, IBO, WBC, IBF and WBO belts.

— If there was such an opportunity, who in the world history of boxing would you like to get into the ring with?

— Honestly, I didn’t have such fantasies.

– Maybe there was some kind of idol?

“The idol remains as a mentor and coach, I never had the thought of boxing with him. I’m not fantasizing. I have a coach from America, John Scully. So, when he went out to fight, he imagined Mohammed Ali boxing with him. It’s like shadowboxing. This is something new for me, I have not practiced this.

– Maybe you would like to go out with Muhammad Ali?

– No, he is too big a figure for me. “How can I even box with him in my thoughts,” Beterbiev told RB Sport.

Currently undefeated, Beterbiev has 21 victories in the professional ring.
