Russian boxer Murat Gassiev defeated Dane Kem Ljungqvist at the “Night of IBA Champions” show in Yerevan.
The fight topped the boxing tournament program. The Russian knocked out his opponent in the fifth round.
Gassiev is 31 years old; the last time he entered the ring was at the end of September 2023 in Turkey, when he lost to Swede Otto Wallin by split decision in a fight for the second line of the IBF rating. Gassiev was the WBA and IBF cruiserweight champion. Since 2020, the Russian has been competing in the heavy weight category.
In the professional ring, the Russian won 31 victories and suffered two defeats. The 34-year-old Ljungqvist has 18 victories, this defeat was the first in his career. The Dane was the IBF International heavyweight champion. There was a pause in his career from January 2020 to April 2022.
