The stands in Macau were silent after the incredible blow to the head.

The highlight of the UFC Fight Night 248 tournament was an unexpected fight from which no sparkling confrontation was particularly expected. But an incredibly scary knockout at the end of the fight first delighted the fans, and then silenced them.

A ticket to the UFC through knockout

Not all fighters currently competing in the UFC immediately received a contract with the promotion. Some had to fight in Dana White’s Challenger Series, while others made their way into the organization through the “Road to UFC” show.

In the final of the third season, Chinese women Feng Xiaokang and Shi Min fought in the women’s minimum weight category. Xiaokang tried to break into the UFC, having champion belts from the Legend FC and EPIC promotions behind her. Shi “Doctor” Ming also achieved great success in martial arts by the age of 30, mainly in kickboxing, where it is important to have good foot control.

The first two rounds, to put it mildly, were not full of spectacular events. The rivals acted carefully, and they can be understood, because a contract with the promotion was at stake. You can perhaps remember the end of the first five minutes, when Shi Min accurately hit her opponent in the jaw with her right foot.

The high kicks she performed were truly dangerous. At the beginning of the third round, the short Shi Min again hit the jaw. This time, Xiaokang fell to the floor as if she had been knocked down. Shi rushed to finish off her opponent, but this could no longer be done. Fen did not understand what was happening, but she received several more heavy blows to the head.

“I’m worried about my opponent”

The audience exploded in delight at such a furious knockout, but quickly fell silent, because the defeated girl could not get up. Even Shi Ming looked confused. She, having a medical education behind her, understood perfectly well that all this could end sadly.

“I feel very happy, but I’m worried about my opponent.” I hope she’ll be okay. She’s young,” Shi Min said after the fight.

Xiaokang was still unable to get up. She was taken out of the “cage” on a stretcher with her head fixed. Naturally, the stands gave a standing ovation to the victim, but she was unable to respond in kind, although her attempts to move her arms were visible.

Only after a while did news appear about the athlete’s health condition. According to information from the broadcast, Xiaokang was taken to the hospital, where she was still able to move her arms. Also, the girl does not remember at all what happened to her. She will now have to undergo a brain examination for a concussion, according to UFC protocol.

Let’s bow our heads. 21-year-old boxer died on New Year’s Eve

Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians commemorate the people who lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine war. Today Sport.ua recalls that 21-year-old Thai boxing master Vladislav Vakulenko, a very positive person, had great potential in the ring, but with the beginning of a full-scale invasion he decided to defend Ukraine. The fighter died exactly three years ago, on December 30, 2022, while conducting a combat mission near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

Vladislav was born in Kiev and has been involved with sports since his childhood. Just six months before his tragic death, he received a diploma from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine and dreamed of major competitions, medals and training future champions. In parallel with his studies, Vladislav trained in Muay Thai. The man hoped to return to training in the gym after the war.

Vladislav Vakulenko took up arms immediately after the Muscovites’ large-scale occupation of his territory. “We live with war! I understand that we live in a historical time when there are real brave comrades nearby, whose soul and body are eager for war… This is a time when you will remain a hero or die a hero,” he wrote on social networks.

His friends and coach remember Vlad as a man of light. He always smiled, joked, supported others, was a master of inspiration, did not make excuses, did not back down from difficulties. The friend wrote: “You’ve done more at this age than some have done in 50 or 60 years.” And Vlad’s mentor, Stanislav Voiten, recalls: “He did his best in training, gave his life in the fight against the invader. I am proud to have known him.”
