A boxing legend from Russia was suddenly found to have doping. Didn’t you come up with anything stupid?

Recently, the ITA banned another Russian fighter from competing.

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) has suspended former world heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin. This was reported by the ITA press service. According to the agency, the Russian boxer is suspected of violating anti-doping rules.

Unexpectedly, they decided to humiliate the legend of Russian boxing after the triumph of Russian boxing.

Did Povetkin dope?

Povetkin was temporarily suspended from competition based on the database of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory. This decision was made on October 21. It is reported that the anti-doping rule violation was recorded on October 25, 2014. The day before, Povetkin won a fight against Cameroonian Carlos Takam in Moscow. As a result of the fight, the Russian boxer won the WBC Silver title, knocking out his opponent in the ninth round.

Now the suspension will not affect Povetkin’s life in any way, because he has completed his career. The Russian, who is already 45 years old, had his last fight on March 27, 2021, sharing the ring with Briton Dillian Whyte. Alexander lost to him by technical knockout and lost the title of interim WBC heavyweight world champion. And recently Povetkin said that he is not going to resume his career, although he receives offers from time to time.

By the way, in September of this year, another Russian boxer Grigory Drozd was temporarily suspended due to suspicions of using prohibited substances. The International Doping Testing Agency recorded a rule violation on the part of the former WBC cruiserweight world champion on September 28, 2014. This happened a day after Drozd’s victory in the title fight with Pole Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.

What is Povetkin doing now?

Povetkin, who has 36 wins (23 by knockout), one draw and three defeats in professional boxing, works as deputy governor of the Vologda region, as became known in May of this year. He is responsible for issues related to the patriotic education of youth and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. In addition, according to the Governor of the Vologda Region Georgy Filimonov, Alexander oversees the implementation of the national project “Youth of Russia”.

INOUE: “I’m tired. I had to prepare very hard for these 4 matches in a year.”

Japanese boxer after fight in Riyadh Naoya Inoue He shared his impressions of his victory over Mexican David Picasso (119–109, 120–108, 117–111):

“Honestly, I’m tired. The point wasn’t that I had four fights a year, it was that I had to prepare very hard for each of those four fights. When you’re in this process, you tolerate it because you only think about the fight, but now that it’s over, I see that I definitely gave it everything I had.”

“I don’t want to disrespect Picasso, but I wanted to show the difference between us a little more clearly and knock him out. I couldn’t meet the expectations and I couldn’t box the way I wanted. Nothing has been decided yet, but I would be happy to organize a fight that will excite the whole of Japan.”

Japanese Junto Nakatani He talked about his victory over Sebastian Hernandez (118-110, 115-113, 115-113):

“This fight was an experience for me. I moved up to this weight class to win a championship, so if I get that chance, I want to take it.”
