Kamil Gadzhiev about Gadzhi Rabadanov’s victory at the PFL tournament: “Lightweight all over the world is becoming Manapov’s”
The head of the AMC Fight Nights league, Kamil Gadzhiev, in a conversation with Match TV, highly appreciated the contribution of coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov to the victory of Gadzhi Rabadanov in the lightweight Grand Prix of the PFL league.
A 31-year-old student of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father and coach of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Gadzhi Rabadanov knocked out Brent Primus in the third round in the finals of the PFL Grand Prix tournament, becoming the organization’s lightweight champion and winning a prize money of one million dollars.
— Three students of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov are now lightweight champions in three major world leagues.
– Lightweight all over the world is becoming Manapovsky, the explanations for this are obvious: when people train with each other, train with the best, the level of each fighter grows. I will also note that Gadzhi previously competed in the up to 66 kg category, but apparently the transition to lightweight weight did him good.
— Don’t you think that only inattention to self-promotion can slow down fighters from Dagestan?
— As for the media, the problem is not with the fighters, but with the PFL. The league has created conditions where there is a simple competitive principle, and media indicators do not decide anything. It turns out that any fighter can just fight and earn money. And a lot of money. Here you go – a million dollars. Why, relatively speaking, should Gadzhi Rabadanov strain himself, post on social networks, pump up fights, when the fights are here, and that’s how you have them.
— Do you suppose that with such results, fighters from Europe will soon come to Russia for training camps?
“Sooner or later this will happen and it could already happen if not for the political situation that is currently distancing us from each other.” Otherwise, some fighters from Europe would already be at the training camp, some come to Thailand for sparring with the Russians. But a little time will pass and they will come to us again, and that’s great,” Gadzhiev told Match TV.
