Three golds under the Russian flag! Our athletes tear everyone apart at the World Championships
In honor of the victories of the Russians, the anthem of our country is played!
For more than two years, many Russian athletes have found it difficult to get to international tournaments. Even fewer athletes from our country can boast of big victories during this period. And it would seem completely inappropriate to talk about successes under the Russian flag. But at the beginning of November, good news came from Montenegro – the Russians were dominating the world championship under the tricolor.
Three gold medals in just one day!
Contrary to IOC prohibitions
On Saturday, November 2, the finals of the world junior boxing championship were held in the Montenegrin city of Budva. It would seem that the tournament is not the largest, but it simply could not go unnoticed by Russian fans. The explanation is simple – here, contrary to IOC prohibitions, our athletes compete under the flag, and if they win the final, they hear the anthem of their native country.
Snezhana Kuznetsova, who competed in the weight category up to 52 kg, was the first to please the fans in the finals. The Russian woman defeated her Chinese opponent Chen Yanfeng. It is worth noting that this is not the first time that a native of the Sverdlovsk region has risen to the highest step of the podium at a major international tournament. A year ago in Yerevan, the girl took gold at the world championship in the age category of 15-16 years.
Vyacheslav Rogozin also knows what winning at international tournaments means, but at the World Championships the Yaroslavl athlete had yet to make a loud statement about himself. The young man confidently reached the final in the weight category up to 54 kg, and in the fight for the gold medal he was stronger than the Chinese boxer Zhang Hanrui.
Decent result
Platon Kozlov, who competed in the up to 60 kg category, also brought gold to Russia. In the semi-finals, the Oryol boxer defeated the Azerbaijani Mahammadali Gasimzade with a score of 5:0. In the final, the Russian was opposed by Yandiel Lozano from Puerto Rico, but he could not stand in the way of our boxer to victory.
The last Russian to enter the ring on Saturday was Kamil Dzhamaev, who competed in the up to 86 kg category. In the semi-finals, his opponent was supposed to be Belarusian Andrei Rumyantsev, but due to a wrist injury, the boxer was unable to compete for access to the final. Having saved his strength, the Dagestan athlete, unfortunately, could not show the best boxing in the main fight and lost the gold to the Uzbek Akmaljon Isroilov. But in any case, silver at the world championship is a worthy result.
The first day of the finals turned out to be close to ideal for the Russian team. Three gold medals and one silver, and even under the flag of the country – this is certainly a reason for pride. But there is another day of finals ahead, in which the Russians will also fight for gold medals.

The injuries received by British boxer Anthony Joshua in a road accident in Nigeria turned out to be more serious than expected, and the British boxer’s future career is in question, reports the Daily Mail.
On Monday, on a section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Lexus SUV Joshua was in collided with a stationary truck. It was reported that the 36-year-old boxer, who was sitting behind the driver, received minor injuries and was hospitalized.
Promotion company Matchroom Boxing later said two of Joshua’s friends and team members, Sina Gami and Latifah Ayodele, died as a result of the accident.
“Joshua’s condition is stable and he will remain in the hospital under observation,” the organization said in a statement.

Let’s bow our heads. 21-year-old boxer died on New Year’s Eve
Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians commemorate the people who lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine war. Today Sport.ua recalls that 21-year-old Thai boxing master Vladislav Vakulenko, a very positive person, had great potential in the ring, but with the beginning of a full-scale invasion he decided to defend Ukraine. The fighter died exactly three years ago, on December 30, 2022, while conducting a combat mission near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
Vladislav was born in Kiev and has been involved with sports since his childhood. Just six months before his tragic death, he received a diploma from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine and dreamed of major competitions, medals and training future champions. In parallel with his studies, Vladislav trained in Muay Thai. The man hoped to return to training in the gym after the war.
Vladislav Vakulenko took up arms immediately after the Muscovites’ large-scale occupation of his territory. “We live with war! I understand that we live in a historical time when there are real brave comrades nearby, whose soul and body are eager for war… This is a time when you will remain a hero or die a hero,” he wrote on social networks.
His friends and coach remember Vlad as a man of light. He always smiled, joked, supported others, was a master of inspiration, did not make excuses, did not back down from difficulties. The friend wrote: “You’ve done more at this age than some have done in 50 or 60 years.” And Vlad’s mentor, Stanislav Voiten, recalls: “He did his best in training, gave his life in the fight against the invader. I am proud to have known him.”
