Unexpected decision by UFC bosses! Volkov need not worry about the scandalous defeat
Even in America they are happy that Alexander Volkov gets special treatment.
One of the main events of the UFC 310 evening in Las Vegas was the fight between our Alexander Volkov and the Frenchman Cyril Gan. It was obvious to most spectators that the Russian looked stronger in this fight, so the fans greeted the judges’ decision to award victory to the Frenchman with a furious roar. Moreover, even Gan himself did not immediately understand that it was Volkov who lost.
And North American social media users were literally angry and called for justice.
“I’m sure I won the fight”
For 36-year-old Alexander, the December evening in the USA was very important, because this could be his last campaign for the title. Then everything will simply depend not only on the presence of physical strength, but also simply on the time for the next passage of this path. Of course, this was one of the reasons why the Russian launched such a powerful attack at the beginning of the fight.
Volkov was good. It cannot be said that he destroyed his opponent, but one would have to be a completely blind person not to see his advantage in the confrontation with Gan. The overall picture simply made it impossible to form a different impression. All the more shocking was the verdict of the judges who gave preference to the Frenchman. Volkov clearly did not understand how this could even happen and was quite categorical on social networks.
“I am completely confident that I won the fight.” I gave it my all in the tempo, I gave it my all in the fight. I don’t know what to do. Backstage, the UFC bosses approached me, the biggest boss. Everyone thinks it was the wrong decision. I won this fight – that’s one hundred percent. I don’t know where the judges were looking,” Alexander said, addressing the fans.
White’s reaction
We must pay tribute to Gan, who did not once again provoke the fans and the Russian himself. The Frenchman assessed the results of the fight quite objectively and with understanding, indirectly admitting that he was not the best in the arena in Las Vegas that evening. What can we say if UFC head Dana White personally approached Volkov and called him the winner. And then he confirmed his words in public communication.
– I believe that Volkov won the fight. You saw what happened after the fight. You heard the roar of the crowd. I approached Volkov after the fight and apologized. I think he won,” White said at a press conference.
“This is real racism against Volkov”
Of course, we cannot ignore the opinion of the fans in the stands, who unanimously expressed dissatisfaction with the referees’ decision. And on social networks, the same Americans literally blasted those responsible for what was happening, and some linked the result of the battle to the fact that Volkov was from Russia.
“Volkov has every reason to be upset, but, unfortunately, this will not change the outcome of the fight,” wrote broseph.
– Volkov was simply robbed. What happened to this sport? – asks Tim Aspinall.
“This judge needs to be fired,” admitted AMV.
“The UFC needs to figure out what the hell is wrong with these judges.” Volkov was simply robbed today,” Cbrady wrote.
— Volkov won the fight with one goal. Damn these judges! — Jake Turner lamented.
“This is real racism at work.” Volkov won this fight with a margin, but the fact that he is white and Russian does not please some of the governments on the planet, noted Loyalty Integrity Truth.
— Volkov from Russia. This may be the reason for such a judicial decision,” wrote Dr. Keaton.
“Volkov was robbed, this is part of anti-Russian propaganda,” said Caleb Williams’ Pole.
It is difficult to give an accurate assessment of whether the judges’ decision was really related to Alexander’s nationality. This is not at all a fact, because the UFC, unlike many other sports organizations, showed increased loyalty to the Russians even during the period of suspension. And Dana White has a great attitude towards our athletes and the country as a whole.
In theory, the judges could make a biased decision because of their political views, but the main factor seems to be banal incompetence, which White and the UFC management really need to do something about.
At the same time, the Russian’s manager Ivan Bannikov unexpectedly announced that it was Volkov who remained a contender for the title, and not Gan, despite the Frenchman’s victory. And Bannikov emphasized that this is not his whim, but the position of the UFC. And this is the case when even North American fans support the Russian.
