Former Bellator champion Alexander Shlemenko said that ex-world boxing champion Mike Tyson showed himself worthy in a fight with blogger Jake Paul.
On Friday, Tyson, 58, lost to Paul, 27, in an eight-round boxing match by unanimous decision. The fight took place in Arlington (USA). It was previously reported that Paul’s fee would be $40 million, and Tyson’s would be $20 million.
— Honestly, this was not the kind of fight I expected. It was clear that Mike wanted to cut himself to death, but Paul chose tactics and strategy: he worked at a distance and avoided close range, especially in the first rounds. It was clear that he was afraid. And here, although Mike Tyson lost, it cannot be called a loss. Yes, Jake Paul won, got his punch to his head more times. So what? Overall, I think Mike Tyson showed himself very well. And he really wanted to show it even better, but it’s two fighters who make a fight. Jake Paul was in no mood to fight. He was determined to win with minimal loss for himself. That’s what he achieved,” Shlemenko told the Championship.
Tyson had his last official fight before the fight with Paul in 2005. In total, the ex-champion’s track record includes 50 victories (44 by knockout) and seven defeats. 27-year-old Paul’s boxing record is 11 wins (7 by knockout) and one loss.
