Koreshkov on refereeing in Volkov’s fight: “Unfortunately, it’s difficult for the UFC to do anything here”

PFL league fighter Andrey Koreshkov commented on the judges’ decision in the fight between Alexander Volkov and Frenchman Cyril Gan at the UFC 310 tournament.

The third number in the rating of the heavy division Volkov on Saturday lost to Gan (the second number in the rating) by a split decision. Immediately after the fight, UFC President Dana White told the Russian fighter that he did not agree with the judges’ decision.

“Unfortunately, it’s difficult for the UFC to do anything in this situation. What can we talk about if the president of the organization, Dana White, expressed dissatisfaction with the work of Judge Adelaide Bird. Moreover, everyone remembers how she became the heroine of a scandal during the boxing match between Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin and was forced to suspend her career. But now it works again.

The appointment of arbitrators is not the responsibility of promotions, but of service commissions. The question to them is why they employ such unqualified employees. How can she be trusted with fights of this magnitude? Maybe all we have to do is wait for artificial intelligence to join the UFC judging. White raised this topic as a joke, RT quotes Koreshkov as saying.

Volkov’s MMA record is 38 wins and 11 losses, while Gan’s professional record is 13 wins and 2 losses.
