Beterbiev: “Usyk won’t go down, and I won’t get up. But from a sporting perspective, I would be interested in this fight.”
Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev said that he would be interested in a fight with Ukrainian Alexander Usik specifically for the sporting component.
Earlier, Beterbiev told Seconds Out that he was ready to fight against the absolute world heavyweight champion Usik in the cruiserweight division. Beterbiev and Usik met three times in fights at the amateur level. In 2007, Beterbiev won. In 2011, Usik won the World Championships and the 2012 Olympics.
Beterbiev will have a second fight with compatriot Dmitry Bivol in Riyadh in February. The first fight between two Russian boxers took place on October 12, 2024 and ended with Beterbiev winning by decision. As a result of that fight, Arthur became the absolute world champion in the light heavyweight division.
— There have been rumors for a week that if the second fight with Bivol goes well for you, then you will risk a fight against Usik. Is this true?
– I think it’s fantasy. Usik won’t go down and I probably won’t go up there. Don’t know. From a sports perspective, I would be interested in this fight, because we boxed as amateurs, at the World Championships and the Olympics. Money, of course, is good, but I would have a sporting interest in this fight.
– In an ideal world, if everything comes together, would you want this fight to happen as soon as possible? Or do you need some time?
– Of course, I would need time to prepare.
— If your amateur fights with Usik had not happened, would you not be interested in this fight?
– Certainly. He is now the undisputed heavyweight champion. I’m not saying that I’m so cool, I want to box with an absolute champion – no. “We had some kind of background,” the Match TV correspondent reports Beterbiev’s words.

INOUE: “I’m tired. I had to prepare very hard for these 4 matches in a year.”
Japanese boxer after fight in Riyadh Naoya Inoue He shared his impressions of his victory over Mexican David Picasso (119–109, 120–108, 117–111):
“Honestly, I’m tired. The point wasn’t that I had four fights a year, it was that I had to prepare very hard for each of those four fights. When you’re in this process, you tolerate it because you only think about the fight, but now that it’s over, I see that I definitely gave it everything I had.”
“I don’t want to disrespect Picasso, but I wanted to show the difference between us a little more clearly and knock him out. I couldn’t meet the expectations and I couldn’t box the way I wanted. Nothing has been decided yet, but I would be happy to organize a fight that will excite the whole of Japan.”
Japanese Junto Nakatani He talked about his victory over Sebastian Hernandez (118-110, 115-113, 115-113):
“This fight was an experience for me. I moved up to this weight class to win a championship, so if I get that chance, I want to take it.”
