“Honesty and justice still exist.” The Ukrainian was deprived of world championship gold in favor of the Russian
Dinara is now motivated for new victories, but does not feel much joy.
Recently, in the international sports arena, it is not so often possible to hear about the successes of Russians. It is problematic to obtain new victories under conditions of unprecedented restrictions, and we are periodically deprived of existing ones under various pretexts. However, sometimes revisions of results turn out to be in favor of the Russians.
After rechecking the samples, the Ukrainian was deprived of victory at the World Championships. The gold went to an athlete from Russia.
Convincing victory
The Russian team won a convincing victory in the medal count at the World Wrestling Championships for athletes under 23, which Serbia hosted in 2021. At this tournament, six athletes won the final bouts, nine were content with silver, and seven took bronze medals.
The freestyle wrestlers performed most successfully, taking four golds. Greco-Roman wrestlers also had some success, with two victories. The girls, unfortunately, did not manage to win a medal of the highest standard in any of the categories, although they also had enough prizes: five athletes from our country reached the finals.
One of the medalists at the Youth World Championship was Dinara Kudaeva, who competed in the up to 65 kg category – the girl was one step away from the gold medal. On the way to the final, the Russian confidently dealt with rivals from Italy and Kazakhstan, and also defeated an athlete from Turkey in a difficult semi-final. But in the main fight, unfortunately, it was not possible to win: the gold was taken by Ukrainian Anastasia Lavrenchuk, who managed to pin the Russian representative on her shoulder blades in a minute and a half.
“Unexpected, but nice”
The Ukrainian woman was triumphant, and the Ukrainian fans were very happy. But after some time it became clear that the victory was not entirely fair. A recheck of the samples revealed that Lavrenchuk had traces of doping in her body, which automatically raised the question of depriving the athlete of the awards she had won.
They did not spare Anastasia and predictably deprived her of the gold medal, and the status of world champion among youth passed to Dinara Kudaeva. The question could arise whether the United World of Wrestling would decide to give her this gold medal. Formally, no obstacles could arise, but given the difficult attitude towards the Russians, in reality any kind of madness was to be expected. Fortunately, we managed to avoid unforeseen troubles, and our athlete will receive gold.
– This is unexpected, but it is very pleasant! There is no great joy after 2.5 years, but the feeling of pride and joy that honesty and justice still exist motivates us to continue working,” the press service of the D. G. Mindiashvili Wrestling Academy quotes the athlete as saying.
Thus, more than two years after the tournament in Serbia, the Russian team’s golden catch grew to seven medals of the highest standard. Of course, this was in the past, albeit not very distant, but in the present no one is going to give up. The newly-minted world champion Dinara Kudaeva won the prestigious Ivan Yarygin Cup tournament in Krasnoyarsk in January and intends to continue to delight fans with victories.

2020 Olympics champion boxer Batyrgaziev decided to take a break from his career
Olympic champion and former interim WBA super featherweight champion Albert Batyrgaziev decided to take a break from his professional career.
At the beginning of July in Istanbul at the “IBA.PRO 8” tournament, Batyrgaziev lost early to the British James Dickens and lost the IBA.PRO champion and interim WBA champion titles in the second featherweight division. For the 27-year-old Russian, this was the first defeat in his professional career.
— I want to tell you honestly about my plans. Many people ask about their future career. Now I have decided to take a conscious break from my professional career. For me, boxing has been and remains a huge part of my life. Therefore, this choice is now very difficult. My whole sports life has been a race to the top: four Russian championships, an Olympic medal in Tokyo and then turning professional, where I went undefeated.
The last fight on July 2 was a turning point for me. The first defeat made me look at many things differently. I thank Allah for the trials and mercies that helped me become a better person. Since I have always felt a responsibility not only in the ring, but also before society, now is the time to become more active in projects that I have long planned, for example, supporting the development of sports infrastructure in my native regions. This doesn’t mean I’m saying goodbye to the ring. I remain an active boxer. But now all my work is outside of it. I thank everyone for their incredible support along this path: both in moments of triumph and in moments of challenge. She gives strength. I promise this new chapter will be just as honest and purposeful. I’m not saying goodbye, I’m just saying “goodbye,” Batyrgaziev wrote in the Telegram channel.
Batyrgaziev won gold in the weight category up to 57 kg at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. In the professional ring he has 12 wins and one loss.
