Olympic boxing champion Maktaggart died at the 90th year of life

Olympic boxing champion Briton Richard Mactaggart died at the age of 89, reports The Courier.

– With love and memory of Dick Maktaggart, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a real gentleman and legend in the world of boxing. His kindness, determination, sense of humor and strength of spirit will never be forgotten. He will be very missing, but he is forever in our hearts, – the publication quoted the family of Mactaggart.

Maktaggart won gold at the 1956 Olympic Games in the weight category up to 60 kg. In the semifinals, he defeated the Soviet boxer Anatoly Lagetko. Also on the account of Maktaggart, the bronze of the 1960 Olympics, as well as the title of European Champion – 1961.
