At the games -2028, seven sets of medals in men’s and women’s boxing will be played out
The Olympic program of the Games -2028 boxing tournament in Los -Angeles will include competitions in 14 weight categories – seven for men and women, said the sports director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Keith McConnell.
– Earlier we decided to approve boxing in the OI -2028 program. Now the principle of gender equality is also implemented in terms of the number of sets of awards. There are 7 of them in male and female boxing. One weight category has been added to women, ”said McConnell at a press conference following a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee.
At the games -2024 in Paris in boxing, 13 sets of awards were played – seven in men’s competitions, six in women’s competitions.
At the 144th IOC session in Greece, it was decided to include boxing in the program of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los -Angeles. The International Olympic Committee temporarily recognized the World Boxing (WB) organization that controls boxing at the world level.
The Olympics -2028 will be held in Los -Ageles from July 14 to 30.
