IBA President Kremlin – on the inclusion of boxing in the program of OI -2028: “A huge victory of the entire boxing family”

Umar Kremlev, President of the Boxing International Boxing Association (IBA), said that the inclusion of boxing in the 2028 Olympic Games program is the result of a long and fierce struggle of the entire boxing family.

Earlier, at the 1944th Session of the IOC in Greece, it was decided to include boxing in the program of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los -Angeles. The International Olympic Committee temporarily recognized the World Boxing (WB) organization that controls boxing at the world level. It was founded by the IBA by national federations. In June 2023, the IOC session by a majority vote excluded IBA from the Olympic movement.

– The boxing remains in the Olympic program of Los -Angeles of 2028 – not just a fact, but a huge victory of our entire boxing family, deserved by a long and fierce struggle. This clearly proves that the truth of honest sports is stronger than personal ambitions. The genuine main values of sports and the interests of athletes much outweigh these “backstage” political games.

We sincerely hope that the new IOC leadership will remain independent and will listen to athletes, and not to politicians. The Olympics should be free from political influence, personal grievances and manipulations.

IBA is an organization that consistently fulfills its obligations. We are not just saying – we fulfill our obligations and achieve success. If others want to build parallel projects – please. We do not forbid this. But the truth is that there is only one global structure with experience, history and proven results – this is IBA, ”said Kremlin, whose words are reported by the IBA press service.

The Olympics -2028 will be held in Los -Ageles from July 14 to 30.
