Our judoka tore the World Cup! And glorified Russia throughout the world
The outcome of the final confrontation decided one throw.
Timur Arbuzov went to the Judo World Championship in the status of the current European champion. However, this did not guarantee anything – competition in the category of up to 81 kg is the highest, to take a medal of any dignity a great achievement. Our athlete completed the maximum task, understanding the final with a three-time world champion.
A brilliant victory brought the Russian judo to the Russian judo at the tournament!
The strongest without reservation
From June 13 to 20, the World Judo Championship is held in Hungary. As a year earlier, Russian athletes take part in it, but, unfortunately, again without national symbols. The first medalist of the tournament from our country was Ayub Bliev, who in the category of up to 60 kg took bronze. And the first champion was Timur Arbuzov: the 21-year-old native of the Krasnodar Territory had no equal in the category up to 81 kg.
On the way to the final, Timur defeated rivals from Benin, the Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. Having dealt with the winners of the continental tournaments of Africa and Asia, Arbuzov met face to face with the Vice-Champion Olympiad-2024 and the four-time world champion Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia.
In 2024, it was Grigalashvili who left the Russian without gold in the final of the World Cup. However, at the European Championship-2025 in Montenegro, our judoka took a revenge. The next fight lasted a very long time, could end with any outcome, but ended in the end of Timur’s victory, who found the opportunity to throw an opponent at Ippon. Considering that all the strongest, Olympic champion Tokyo and Paris Takanori Nagase did not miss this tournament in Budapest, Arbuzov, without any reservation, has become the strongest judo in the category.

“There was no surprise”
– So far, the sensations are incomprehensible, to be honest. I understand what happened in my soul, ”said Arbuzov on the air of the program“ Everything for the match! ” At Match TV.
World champion coach Dzhanbolet Naguchev, as it turned out, did not doubt the success of the Russian athlete.
– There was no surprise from the victory of Timur. It is true that difficulties should have arisen, because there was a three -time world champion and the man to whom Timur lost the last time in the final, but he won Georgian at the European Championship. The expectation was that it was possible to take gold, and there was hope too. The Hippon Throw is not quite classic. He was born from such a mutual struggle and someone had to fulfill it, it’s good that Timur, who was ready for him, did it, ”said the coach of Timur Arbuzov Dzhanbolet Naguchev“ Match TV ”.
After victories at the European and the world of watermelons, in a different situation, it would automatically become one of the main applicants for Olympic gold. But so far there is no clarity whether Russian athletes can, in principle, go to the 2028 Olympics.
On the live broadcasts, the final competitions on the World Cup in Budapest See on the TV channels “Match TV” and “Match! Fighter”. Direct broadcasts of the preliminary stage and the finals of the tournament are also available on Matchtv.ru and Sportbox.ru sites.

TYSON FURY: “There was a void after Klitschko. He can fill that void.”
Former two-time world champion Tyson Rage He believes that boxer Agit Kabayel will be the first boxing star in Germany after the Klitschko brothers, who usually hold their fights here.
“Germany has been missing a bright boxing star for a long time. In the early 2000s, the country experienced a real boom thanks to the Klitschko brothers, Arthur Abraham and Marco Huck. After the end of the Klitschko era, this scene was almost empty. Now there is a gap there, and in my opinion, Agit has the capacity to be the boxer to fill this gap,” said Tyson.
Previously, former world champion Tyson Fury explained why Alexander Usyk will not fight against interim WBC champion Agit Kabayel.
