Former world boxing champion in two weight categories, American Dwight Muhammad Kavi died at the age of 72, ESPN reports with reference to his sister Vandu King.

She stated that over the past five years, Kavi, who suffered over the past five years, died on Friday.

Kavi’s name at birth is Dwight Braxton, he was born in Baltimore, grew up in Camden. He served his sentence for an armed robbery and became a professional boxer at the age of 25, shortly after his release.

He changed his name in 1982 after the adoption of Islam, was the worldwide world champion by WBC in half -burned and the WBA in the first heavyweight, won 41 battle (25 – knockout), suffered 11 defeats, one fight ended in a draw. In 2004, Kavi was included in the International Boxing Glory Hall.
