The bronze medalist of the 1988 Olympics in the Greco -Roman struggle Vladimir Popov suddenly died at the 64th year of his life, the press service of the Federation of Wrestling of the Omsk Region reports.

Popov died on August 2, the causes of his death are not reported.

– The federation of the wrestling of the Omsk region expresses sincere condolences to relatives and friends. The bright memory of Vladimir Albertovich Popov will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him, the report said.

Farewell to Popov will take place on August 5.

Popov won bronze in the weight category up to 90 kg at the 1988 games in Seoul. He also won the World Cup (1987) and the European Championship (1987, 1989), won the World Cup (1986).
