Helif appealed to CAS by the World Boxing solution to prevention to competition without gender test
The Olympic boxing champion Iman Helif from Algeria appealed to the sports arbitration court (CAS) to the decision of the World Boxing federation for the prevention of the organization under the auspices of the organization without compulsory testing to determine the floor, the press service of CAS reports.
Helif is trying to cancel the decision of World Boxing, which forbade her to participate in the boxing tournament in Eindhoven, as well as in any other competitions of the Federation without passing testing to determine the floor. In the appeal, the athlete also asks to recognize her participation in the World Cup, which will be held from September 4 to 14 in Liverpool.
On September 1, CAS rejected the World Boxing petition to suspend the execution of the decision before consideration. Currently, the parties exchange written statements, and a hearing will be scheduled with their consent. CAS trials, while they continue, are confidential.
The innovation, which entered into force on July 1, 2025, implies that each athlete over 18 years of age should take a test to determine the floor. National federations are responsible for testing and confirm the gender of athletes when registering for competitions. The World Boxing also previously announced that Helif will not be allowed to competition in the female category until testing is passing.
The Boxing International Association (IBA) in 2023 suspended Helif during the World Cup in India due to non -compliance with the criteria for admission. In August 2025, the former coach and manager of the athlete Namer Yesfach said that Helif, who won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, suspended his career, she refuted this information.
