Former interim UFC champion Poirier: “Pereira will defeat Ankalaev by knockout in the middle of the fight”
Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier gave a forecast for a rematch between Russian Magomed Ankalaev and Brazilian Alex Pereira.
The title rematch between Ankalaev and Pereira will headline the UFC 320 tournament in Las Vegas (USA), which will take place on October 4. The first fight between the fighters took place in March at UFC 313. Ankalaev won by unanimous decision and became the organization’s champion in the light heavyweight category.
“I think Alex is comfortable being the underdog in any fight because this guy can turn the tide of the fight at any moment. I truly believe Alex will win. He already fought Ankalaev, he wants to regain his title and wants to win. He wants to show that in the last fight everything did not go the way it should go. “I think Pereira will win by pure knockout or technical knockout in the middle of the fight,” MMA Junkie quotes Poirier as saying.
The 33-year-old Ankalaev has 20 wins, one loss and one draw in MMA. Pereira, 38, has 12 wins and three losses in his professional career.
