Suslenkov: “The fight with Smakichi lasted longer than it should have”
Russian boxer Artem Suslenkov said that his fight against Croatian Agronom Smakichi should have ended before the fifth round.
On Friday in Grozny, Suslenkov won the WBA Continental heavyweight belt. Smakichi refused to continue the fight after the fifth three-minute period.
— The fight lasted longer than it should have. The opponent was lucky that the ropes fell in the third round, and while the ring was being put in order, he managed to come to his senses. Before this incident, he had already begun to fail, but the break clearly did him good. But overall the opponent is good, I learned important lessons. “I’ll work on my mistakes and prepare for the next fights,” the Match TV correspondent reports Suslenkov’s words.
Suslenkov, who also holds the IBF European champion belt, has 13 victories in the professional ring. Smakichi suffered his third defeat in 20 victories.
The tournament in Grozny was broadcast live on the Match! Fighter”.
