Salamov: “I’m glad that the fight with Kashinsky ended quickly. I could have problems in the later rounds.”
Russian boxer Umar Salamov is glad that his fight with compatriot Yuri Kashinsky ended quickly, otherwise he might have had problems.
On Friday in Grozny, Salamov defeated Kashinsky by technical knockout in the second round and won the WBA International bridgeweight belt. The ex-champion of IBO, WBO International, IBF International and EBP Salamov has 32 victories and two defeats in the professional ring. Kashinsky has 22 victories and four defeats.
— I’m always happy to perform at home. It is a great happiness for me to perform with the support of my native audience. I’m glad that I won quickly – in the second round, because if the fight had lasted more than four rounds, I probably would have had problems. When I studied my opponent, I realized that he is good in the later rounds. Are you ready to meet WBA bridgerweight champion Muslim Gadzhimagomedov? Long ready. But first I would like to meet with Georgiy Yunovidov. I would like to officially challenge him to a fight right now,” the Match TV correspondent reports Salamov’s words.
Previously, the interim WBA bridgerweight champion Yunovidov told Match TV that he respects Salamov and is ready to box with anyone assigned to him. Yunovidov will fight for the IBA.PRO heavyweight belt with American John Cantrell on October 29 in Manila at the IBA.PRO 11 tournament.
