Russians Melekhov and Shungurtsikov won bronze medals at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships

Two Russian Greco-Roman wrestlers won medals at the U-23 World Wrestling Championship, which takes place in Novi Sad (Serbia).

On Tuesday, the first four sets of medals in Greco-Roman wrestling were played at the tournament.

Dorji Shungurtsikov won bronze in the weight category up to 63 kg. The victory was won by Ziya Babashov (Azerbaijan), who defeated Moldovan Vitaly Eremenko in the final.

Alexander Melekhov became a bronze medalist in the up to 130 kg category. Fardeen Hedayati from Iran won gold, Armenian Razmik Kurdyan won silver.

Two more Russians finished the tournament without awards. In the weight up to 77 kg, Ismail Barakhoev took the final 14th place, and in the category up to 87 kg, Zaur Shengereev became ninth.

The world championship will end on October 27.
