Boxer Sosulin joked that he was waiting for offers from Jake Paul to replace Gervonte Davis
Russian boxer Pavel Sosulin joked in a conversation with Match TV that he was waiting for offers from American Jake Paul to replace Gervonte Davis.
The fight between Paul and Davis was scheduled to take place on November 14 in Miami. In July, it was reported that Davis was arrested for assaulting an ex-girlfriend; the domestic violence case was dropped in August. In 2023, he served 44 days in jail for violating the terms of a 90-day house arrest in connection with a criminal leaving the scene of an accident that occurred in Baltimore in November 2020. 30-year-old Davis has 31 fights, in which the American won 30 victories and one draw. 28-year-old Paul won 12 fights with one defeat.
— How did you react to the breakdown of the fight between Davis and Paul?
– Well… I’m waiting for Paul to write to me so that I can replace him. But he doesn’t write anything. We’re waiting, someone send him my numbers (laughs). But in general, Paul shows media fights, puts on shows, and makes money. Why not? I like the concept that he builds around the promotion of fights. Regarding the battles themselves, no. Yes, he really trains, spars with boxers, and treats this more responsibly.
— If not Gervonta Davis, then who? He listed Francis Ngannou…
– Well, where does Francis Ngannou belong, he’s big. Some Ryan Garcia, yes.
– But Paul defeated Mike Tyson…
“Excuse me, but let’s not forget about age,” Sosulin told Match TV.
Sosulin himself will defend the IBA.PRO Intercontinental junior middleweight belt against the Spaniard Jorge Fortea on November 6 in Samara at the “IBA.PRO 12” tournament as part of the “Russia is a Sports Power” forum.
The IBA.PRO 12 tournament will be broadcast live on Thursday by the Match TV channel, the broadcast begins at 22:00 Moscow time. Broadcast on “Match! Fighter” will begin at 18:55 Moscow time.
Match TV (part of Gazprom Media Holding) is the general information partner of the Russia – Sports Power forum.
