2024 Olympics boxing champion agreed to three-year disqualification for doping
The winner of the boxing tournament at the 2024 Olympics, Uzbek Lazizbek Mullajonov, agreed to a three-year disqualification for violating anti-doping rules, the press service of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) reports.
The athlete’s disqualification period is three years and is valid from July 22, 2025 to July 21, 2028. His results in competitions are canceled from June 11, 2025 (date of sample delivery) to July 22, 2025 (date of temporary suspension).
— The athlete tested positive for the prohibited substance methasterone on June 11, 2025 after passing an out-of-competition sample. The athlete did not contest the violation, and in connection with the early admission, the athlete was entitled to a one-year reduction in the period of ineligibility that would otherwise have been applicable to him for four years, the press release says.
26-year-old Mullajonov won gold in the heavyweight division (up to 92 kg) at the Paris Olympics. He is also a bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships.
