Russian boxer Alexey Papin said that negotiations are underway about his participation in the championship fight.

On Friday in Vologda, in a first heavyweight bout, Papin defeated Rollie Lambert from Cameroon by technical knockout, who refused to continue the fight after the third round due to a shoulder injury. The 38-year-old Russian has 20 victories and one defeat in the professional ring. Papin is ranked ninth in the WBA cruiserweight rankings and holds the WBA Asia belt. Lambert, 36, has 18 wins, four losses and a draw.

– Everything worked out. We implemented the existing plan – we planned to join in the fourth or fifth round. We wanted to box in the first rounds and take a closer look, because the opponent in each fight was different. While we were looking closely, he managed to, unfortunately, get injured. He complained about his shoulder. I hit him on the shoulder once, then he started shaking it. Apparently some kind of injury. There are discussions about a fight for the world champion belt, but for now this is all talk. You need to see everything on paper, then there will be specifics,” the Match TV correspondent reports Papin’s words.
