Russian judoka Chopanov won silver at the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi

Silver medalist of the European Judo Championship, Russian Murad Chopanov, won a silver medal in the weight category up to 66 kilograms at the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi.

On Friday, in the final fight, Chopanov lost to Olympic champion from France Walid Khyar.

This is the second medal for Russian athletes after the return of national symbols. Earlier, Russian Ayub Bliev won gold in the up to 60 kg weight category.

Russian judoka Natalya Elkina lost to the Dutch representative Julie Beerskens in the small final in the weight category up to 57 kg and was left without a medal at the tournament in Abu Dhabi.

On Thursday, the executive committee of the International Judo Federation (IJF) returned to Russian judokas the right to compete at international tournaments under the national flag, anthem and symbols. Previously, athletes from Russia competed in a neutral status.

The Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi will end on Sunday, November 30.
