Russian boxer Peglivanyan reached the quarterfinals of the World Championships in Dubai
Two-time Russian champion Andrey Peglivanyan reached the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championship in Dubai (UAE).
In the 1/8 finals of the tournament, Peglivanyan (weight category up to 57 kg) defeated Pablo Fonseca de Jesus from Brazil by unanimous decision.
Russian Bair Batlayev (up to 51 kg) at the same stage defeated the representative of French Polynesia Nike Cummings. All judges gave the victory to the Russian.
Also made it to the quarterfinals Sergey Koldenkov (up to 71 kg), defeating Jean-Carlos Ubarnes Urango from Colombia by unanimous decision.
The World Men’s Boxing Championship runs from December 2 to 13. 13 Russian boxers started in the tournament, the team performs with national symbols – the flag and anthem of Russia. The competition’s prize fund is $8.32 million.
