The Russian boxing team must win at least six gold medals at the World Championships in Dubai. The chairman of the coaching council of the Russian Boxing Federation, Eduard Kravtsov, told Match TV.

The World Championships are held in 13 weight categories. 12 Russian boxers qualified for the finals. Andrey Peglivanyan (up to 57 kg) won the bronze medal.

– This is already a historical achievement! 13 people in the semi-finals and 12 in the finals of the World Championship. I understand that skeptics may talk about the absence of the strongest. But if you look at it, the same boxers who won gold at the World Boxing Championship are now performing. Some of them didn’t even make it to the semi-finals, but some reached the finals. There are also three 2024 Olympic champions from Uzbekistan in the finals. That is, the championship itself was a great success both in terms of quantity and level.

You should not underestimate the result of any team. Well, let’s remember that we initially announced that we had an even and strong composition. Our guys improve from fight to fight. It’s great how the youth joined in. I think Russian boxing is on the right track. And the fruits that were laid in 2017 with the arrival of Umar Nazarovich (Kremlev) are working. At the World Championships, the Russian team performs with national attributes.

The tournament’s prize fund is $8.32 million. The boxer will receive $300,000 for victory, $150,000 for second place, $75,000 for third place, and $10,000 for fifth place. The distribution of this fee will be in the following ratio: 50% to the boxer, 25% to the coach, 25% to the national federation.
