Myshev: “Gassiev needed a bright victory over Pulev to remind the boxing world of himself”
Former WBC Youth champion and now manager Vladimir Myshev told Match TV that Russian Murat Gassiev reminded the boxing world of himself thanks to his victory over Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.
The fight took place as part of the BETCITY IBA.PRO 13 tournament in Dubai and ended with Gassiev’s victory by knockout in the sixth round. The World Boxing Association (WBA) regular world heavyweight title was at stake.
“Murat Gassiev needed just such a brilliant victory in order to once again remind the boxing world that he is a boxer of the highest level. Gassiev needed to prove that he was capable of competing among the sport’s elite.
I’ll be honest: at some point I began to doubt that Murat would be able to turn on and demonstrate his previous skills during this fight. I’m sincerely glad I was wrong. “I congratulate Murat Gassiev, his team and our entire country on this victory and winning the world champion title,” Myshev told Match TV.
32-year-old Gassiev has 33 victories in the professional ring with two defeats, 44-year-old Pulev won 32 victories and suffered four defeats.
The IBA.PRO 13 tournament was broadcast live on the Match TV and Match Fighter channels.
