Russian boxer Shumkov won gold at the World Championships in Dubai
Russian boxer Vsevolod Shumkov won gold at the World Championships in Dubai (UAE).
Shumkov in the final in the weight category up to 60 kg defeated the 2024 Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov from Uzbekistan by a split decision.
Shumkov is 24 years old, he is a European champion (Belgrade, 2024) and a bronze medalist at the World Championship (Tashkent, 2023).
Earlier, Andrey Peglivanyan (up to 57 kg) won bronze at the World Championships in the UAE; Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg), Bair Batlayev (51 kg), and Vyacheslav Rogozin (54 kg) won silver medals. Eight more Russians will compete in the final bouts.
Russian athletes perform at the tournament with national symbols – a flag and anthem.
The competition’s prize fund is $8.32 million.
