UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev said that the promotion will offer him his next fight in the near future.

Previously, Makhachev defeated Australian Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision at UFC 322 in New York and became the welterweight champion. He became the first fighter from Russia and the 11th in the history of the promotion to win two championship belts. Prior to this, the Russian vacated the title of the organization’s champion in the lightweight division, which is now held by Ilia Topuria.

— The UFC should offer it soon [бой]. I said that I don’t care (who I fight with). I feel like I can hold the belt at this weight for a long time and feel comfortable. I was shackled in that fight. I didn’t know how I would feel, what my strength indicators would be. I didn’t know what my condition would be for these five rounds. Now I know that I can fight anyone for five rounds, I’ll take a little more risks,” Makhachev said in an interview with Red Corner MMA.

34-year-old Makhachev has 28 victories and one defeat in MMA.
