Russian boxer Atayev won a gold medal at the World Championships in Dubai
Russian boxer Sharabutdin Ataev won gold at the World Championships in Dubai (UAE).
In the final in the weight category up to 86 kg, Ataev defeated the silver medalist of the 2021 World Championship and Europe 2024 Alexey Alferov from Belarus by unanimous decision of the judges.
Ataev is 26 years old, he became a two-time world champion.
Earlier, Vsevolod Shumkov (60 kg), Ilya Popov (up to 63.5 kg), Ismail Mutsolgov (up to 75 kg), Dzhambulat Bizhamov (up to 80 kg) won gold at the World Championship in the UAE; Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg), Bair Batlayev (up to 51 kg), Vyacheslav Rogozin (up to 54 kg), Evgeniy Kool (up to 67 kg), Sergey Koldenkov (up to 71 kg), bronze – Andrey Peglivanyan (up to 57 kg). Two more Russians will compete in the final bouts.
Russian athletes perform at the tournament with national symbols – a flag and anthem.
The competition’s prize fund is $8.32 million.
