Kamil Gadzhiev – about Dvalishvili’s frequent fights: “Money is his main motivation”
The head of the promotion company Fight Nights Global, Kamil Gadzhiev, believes that the main reason for the frequent performances of the Georgian UFC fighter Merab Dvalishvili is money.
On December 7 at UFC 323 in Las Vegas, Dvalishvili lost the title fight to 32-year-old Russian Petr Yan. After five rounds, the judges unanimously gave the victory to Yan, who became the bantamweight champion.
— Merab Dvalishvili is a guy from a simple Georgian family. He earns for himself. Nobody will really care about him a year, two or three after his career ends. The main reason why Merab fought so often was money. This is precisely his main motivation. Any man over 30 will understand Merab, that’s all. Here money, together with heritage, has long been a key factor. Did he somehow discredit his legacy by losing to Ian? No, but I earned money,” Gadzhiev said on his YouTube channel.
Dvalishvili is a former UFC bantamweight champion. Over the course of his entire career, the 34-year-old Georgian had 26 fights, including 21 victories and 5 defeats.
