Tasoev, Arbuzov, Kanikovsky and Tsechoev nominated for awards from the International Judo Federation

Russian judokas Inal Tasoev, Timur Arbuzov, Matvey Kanikovsky and Adam Tsechoev are competing for awards from the International Judo Federation (IJF) in two categories, reports the press service of the Russian Judo Federation.

Tasoev, Arbuzov and Kanikovsky were included in the list of candidates for the award in the “athlete of the year” category. The candidates for the “ippon of the year” award are Tasoev (“o-uchi-gaeshi” technique) and Tsechoev (“seoi-nage”).

Voting on the Judotv.com platform will last until January 15, 2026.

This year, 27-year-old Tasoev won gold at the World Championships in Budapest and the European Championships in Podgorica, and became the champion of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris and Tbilisi. 21-year-old Arbuzov also won the World and European Championships this past year. 24-year-old Kanikovsky took first place at the World Championships in Budapest, won gold (Tashkent) and bronze (Tokyo) at the Grand Slam tournaments. 24-year-old Tsechoev won silver and bronze at the Grand Slam tournaments in Dushanbe and Mongolia, respectively.

At the end of November, the IJF Executive Committee returned to Russian judokas the right to compete at international tournaments under the national flag, anthem and symbols.
