IBF world champion hospitalized a day before title defense
IBF world champion in the second flyweight category Willibaldo Garcia The Mexican player could not make the championship fight he planned because he was hospitalized.
The Mexican boxer, who was hospitalized after the weigh-in ceremony, determined that he could not enter the ring during the medical examination. His opponent was supposed to be the former Japanese flyweight champion Kenshiro Terajibut the fight was canceled and because Garcia’s defense was voluntary, the Japanese boxer lost the opportunity to compete for the championship.
Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Entertainment Authority Turks Al Ash-SheikhHe tried to find another opponent for Teraji, one of the organizers of the boxing night. On social networks, he turned to Algerian boxer Moussa Moukhoub and Sudanese representative Mourtdi Zimalabden with an offer to get into the ring in a short time.
Turks El-Sheikh: “Good evening. We have a boxer who cannot box at 52 kilos, and I do not want the Japanese champion to return to the country without a boxing match. I found this Arab champion from Sudan. If he is ready and his weight is suitable, who can show us so that we can bring him to the match?”
Due to the cancellation of the championship fight, organizers had to move the start of the boxing night forward by one hour and adjust the timing of the entire event.
