Promoter Joshua: ‘You can’t blame Anthony if he doesn’t return’
Promoter Eddie Hearn does not know if Anthony Joshua will return to the ring after two of his close friends died in a car accident.
“I have spoken to Joshua several times. For now he needs to be given time. It surprises me that now they are just asking what happens next for his career. So far it is not about boxing or his career. For now Anthony is trying to deal with his personal tragedy.”
“If he does not return to the ring, no one has the right to blame or condemn him. But I still believe that he will return.”
“We need to give him time now. He has no belt, he has no obligations. He may not fight for 2-3 years or not at all,” Hearn said.
The accident occurred in Nigeria. Joshua was in the car but was not seriously injured.
