Commentator Alexander Belenky told Life that he had no doubts about the victory of Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev over Bulgarian representative Tervel Pulev in the first heavyweight division.
The fight took place in the USA and ended after 10 rounds with a unanimous victory for the 39-year-old Russian, for whom this fight was his debut in this weight category.
– The victory took place, because it could not fail to take place. Because Pulev is not the opponent who can provide worthy resistance to Sergey Kovalev. This is a passing fight. It’s just that Sergei hasn’t competed for 2.5 years now, in my opinion, and this is, so to speak, a way for him to return. This is the acceleration for the next fights. Former Sergei, I’m afraid to say, but we will not see the age. That Sergei, as he was five or seven years ago, we simply will not be able to see anymore. The saddest thing is that it seems to him that they are still here, the forces, but this is not entirely true, ”said Belenky.
This victory was for Kovalev 35th in his career. He also has 4 losses and one draw.
