“I was scared as hell.” Naomi Osaka hid in Brooklyn arena after shooting news

On the night of May 29, a boxing match for the WBA world lightweight championship was held between Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The first knocked out the second in the sixth round.

After the war, panic began near the arena – allegedly after hearing the sounds of shooting, the frightened spectators, who had already left the sports complex, returned to the building. Many people were injured due to the panic.

One of those present at the arena was world tennis superstar Naomi Osaka. The Japanese woman shared her feelings on Twitter:

“I was at Barclays Center and all of a sudden I heard screams and saw people running. Then they started shouting that there was someone shooting at us and we had to hide in the room and close the doors. I was terribly scared.”

The NYPD managed to issue a statement denying that there was shooting in the arena.

Cameras captured the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion during The Ring V: Night of the Samurai boxing event held in Riyadh on December 27 Alexander Usik I was in a great mood. The Ukrainian actor danced instead and playfully showed various gestures to the operators.

A short video was later released in which Usyk jokingly “scares” British promoter Eddie Hearn with an imaginary machine gun.

On Saturday, December 27, a large-scale Ring V boxing night was held at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The main event of the show was the fight for the title of absolute world champion, where Japanese star Naoya Inoue and Mexican rival Alan David Picasso fought. The Japanese boxer managed to win a convincing victory – the fight went through all 12 rounds.

The accident occurred in the morning on the Lagos-Ibadan highway near Shagamu Junction in the northeast of Lagos, one of the most dangerous roads in the country.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria, Joshua’s Lexus SUV collided with a truck parked on the side of the road. According to preliminary data, the SUV was traveling above the speed limit and crashed during an overtaking maneuver.

There were 5 people in the car. As a result of the accident, 2 people died. The other two passengers were not injured. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive with minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment. Law enforcement and rescue teams arrived at the scene within minutes of the incident being reported.

Ogun State Police confirmed that the exact location of the accident was a section of the highway in front of a petrol station near Shagamu Junction. An official investigation was appointed to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy.

It is understood that Joshua was on his way from Lagos to his parents’ home. The news of the accident shocked his family. Just a few hours before the accident, the boxer posted a video on social networks in a good mood.

The incident occurred shortly after the 36-year-old Briton’s remarkable victory over Jake Paul on December 19. Tragic events in Nigeria overshadowed the sports triumph that claimed the lives of two people.

Former WBA, WBO, IBF heavyweight world champion, Briton Anthony Joshua, was involved in an accident in Nigeria, as a result of which two people died, local publication Punch reports.

The incident occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The Lexus SUV Joshua was in collided with a stationary truck. It is reported that the 36-year-old boxer, who was sitting behind the driver, received minor injuries and was hospitalized.

According to an eyewitness, two people died in the accident: a passenger sitting next to the driver and a person in the back seat next to Joshua. The remaining victims were taken to the hospital.

The local police commissioner said an investigation into the incident has been ordered.

Olympic champion Joshua defeated American blogger Jake Paul in a fight in Miami on December 19. In total, he has 29 victories and four defeats in the professional ring.
